Blue and White Colour Scheme

When I was growing up my mother had a collection of exquisite blue and white china – the beautiful blue and white colour scheme.  She had slowly added to these from bric a brac and antique fairs, but to me, they all looked exactly the same. Sitting on the dresser, neatly lined up. However, she was insistent that they were all slightly different and unique.

When I first entered the Kings Apartments in the Moon Palace, Jaipur, I first though of how she would love the giant china like motifs.  A wonderful example of color combination with blue and white.

The power of memory is amazing, and it took me back to being a child, staring up at the dresser. That classic Blue and White Colour scheme.

The palace was so calm and serene. A real dream palace and a feast to the eyes, with lavish hand paintings covering the floor and ceiling. The vibrancy and freshness of every shade standing out under the beaming sun glazed tiles.

Narain Niwas Palace

This was not to be the end of my blue and white china flashbacks: fresh from Jaipur where I had visited the Bar Palladio, in the Hotel Narain Niwas Palace Jaipur. I was mesmerized by their take on the blue and white color combination. I had wanted to visit for many years, but always ran out of time.

If you ever have a chance, it’s simply a must. To take a rest from the dust and madness of the city, and take a cheeky cocktail in this theatrical and super stylish bar.

Designed by Marie-Anne Oudejeans, the former founder and owner of Tocca and located in the Narain Niwas Palace Hotel, the interiors were inspired by the opulence of the twentieth century Maharajas.

From the blue and white color scheme interiors, traditional patterns and motifs, to the chic tented lounges on the terrace, the glamorous setting is sure to transport guests to a magical place in time, as it did for me.

It is incredibly opulent with hints of wild peacocks, mango trees and tented canopies with hints of hot magenta pink, to modernize the colour scheme. It really is a truly unique setting to sip on your favourite aperitif.
