“The body is more a place than an object for me:
the body ‘in’ space and the body ‘as’ space”
From the British coastline to the rooftops of Manhattan, Antony Gormley’s sculptures are recognised across the world. With work from his 45-year career alongside major new installations we present his most ambitious exhibition in more than ten years. Almost all his work takes the human body as his subject.

The exhibition will be quite a spectacle and I notice it has some spaces that may be really thought provoking! Some of the works contain water, sharp edges and materials that can transfer onto clothing. If you are sensitive to enclosed spaces, one of the works may not be suitable for you to enter.
Best known in the UK for “Angel of the North” in Gateshead, and “Another Place” on Cosby beach near Liverpool, Sir Antony Mark David Gormley, (born 30 August 1950), is a British sculptor.
Other famous works include Event Horizon, a multi-part site installation which premiered in London in 2007, around Madison Square in New York City, in 2010, in São Paulo Brazil in 2012, and in Hong Kong in 2015–16.
In 2008 The Daily Telegraph ranked Gormley number 4 in their list of the “100 most powerful people in British culture”.
He certainly remains one of our great British artists and I am so looking forward to visiting his forthcoming show. Book online at the RSA for the Antony Gormley Royal Academy exhibition!
