Travel and Creativity
Picture this mind lacking travel and creativity:
The same morning commute. The same basket full of goods. The same Netflix TV show. A mind lacking creativity and inspiration. A common occurrence for many of us.
Travelling is the perfect antidote to allow you to escape your day-to-day, see new wonders and express yourself.
A premise I can resonate heavily relate with.
Marcel Proust Quote
As Marcel Proust once stated, “The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes.”
How does Traveling Open your Mind?
Travelling causes an up-stick in your brain’s ability to produce positive thoughts. Leading to a more inspired version of yourself.
It was no surprise to me that recent research revealed that one of the cores to human happiness and creativity is travel.
New Travel and Happiness Research:
Inspired by anecdotal evidence about artists who produced their most famous working during stints abroad (Vladimir Nabokov and Lolita, Ernest Hemingway and The Sun Also Rises), Professor Adam Galinsky of Columbia Business School set out to explore this correlation.
In American Psychological Association Research, Professor Galinsky proved that individuals who have lived abroad in their lifetime tend to be more creative.
Furthermore, the more countries in which someone has lived, the higher the degree of their creativity.
Travel and Creativity – a perfect union
The conclusion?
Whether you’re an office worker looking for inspiration beyond excel, or an undiscovered artistic genius, travelling is the answer your looking for!
